Vacation Series Part Two: Purchasing
I venture to guess that I am far from the first Mom who prioritizes their child's outfit planning above themself. As we embark on the second step of our vacation series, we arrive at procurement stage. This is where I reviewed my original outfits against my closet to assess what if any items needed to be purchased, what items can simply be shopped in my own closet.
For myself, I decided to procure two thing, oversized sweater and thicker puffer vest. First, I ordered two different oversized sweatshirts from Zella via Nordstrom. I plan to decide which I believe I can wear most, and return the other. As of now, I envision keeping the heather grey option as shown below, but time will tell once both arrive and are styled. Second, I ordered two different black winter vests. During the Nordstrom anniversary sale, I bought a black North Face puffer vest; however, it is on lighter side, and better served for mild winter climates. Given the proposed Canadian temperature, I envision needing more warmth at my core. So, I opted to snag two thicker puffers from Nordstrom to choose between. Although I love the look of the longer, thicker puffer, time will tell if I prefer that or the more cropped option. Realistically, I would get more use out of the latter, so it is currently the favorite but jury still out. For me, everything else was procured prior to planning our trip. Albeit, I presumed we were headed to the mountains so I snagged sneaker boots in the fall and M Gemi boots in early January when they were heavily discounted. I originally added long black uggs to cart with a gift card I received, but when Neiman canceled my order followed by M Gemi releasing their best sale of year, I took it as a sign that it was fate.
As for my daughter, I pretty much started with a blank canvas. Ok, maybe an exaggeration, a sketch is more realistic depiction. I purchased several winter options for her from Old Navy in early November including puffer vests, teddy coat, a few winter sweater, boots, and few lightweight sets. But, I opted to purchase several additional sets from Walmart and went up a size. Our daughter is a bit of a bean stalk, as she is situated in the the 99th percentile in both height and weight. Thus, I have found no reason to spend high dollar on her clothing as there I no telling the expiration date. For reference, she is in 4/5 T at 23 months. I also purchased her snow gear from Amazon such as coat, thermals, hats, scarf, mittens, and snow pants to layer on top of her daily outfits in preparation for any frigid temps.
Although I plan to rewear pants and shirts, toddler parents will know that 2 outfits per day is likely the sweet spot for a toddler, who always finds a way to stain a shirt, pants, or both. So you will see, the only reuse in her case is for jackets and coats as those are likely taken off for meals.
As we are now geared up for vacation, stay tuned next week as you see what we decided to Pack as we head to the mountains.
