Dressing From Work to Weekend

Originally, I envisioned that I would pen a blog post featuring Day to Night look(s), yet I could not decide on pieces to pair. In this season of my life, I crave weekends full of rest, relaxation, and to be frank pajamas. Unless I have an event to attend, I prefer to stay home and watch Netflix on the couch, no bra necessary.

But, we often find ourselves leaving the house for Sunday breakfast. In our home, Sundays are for family. Unlike Saturdays when my husband often heads to the tennis courts, leaving us girls behind, Sundays are almost always just the three of us. Typically, we are awoken by a toddler crying out to rescue her from her room in the wee hours of the morning, e.g. 6AM. I scoop her up and wedge her between my husband and I in our bed. The three of us snuggle while watching her favorite shows or movies. Sometime before 8AM, she regains her full energy and is ready to seize the day. That is the moment we begin the tag team process of getting both ourselves as well as our daughter ready to leave the house.

As you might notice, much of my closet is composed of workwear. As I go into the office 5 days of the week, it is logicial that my wardrobe is workwear heavy. However, it is important to me that many of my pieces have the ability to transition from the work week to the weekend, and for that matter vice versa.

I find it is easiest to procure cardigans, jackets, and blazers that can be worn for work and play. Furthermore, I opt for more conservative blouses and sweater to expand the usability the pieces within my closet.

For this illustration, I chose an easy weekend outfit canvas of Madewell Perfect Vintage Jeans, ATM Schoolboy Tshirt, and M Gemi Sneaks. Although I am happy to wear this outfit alone, I find pairing a casual look with a workwear piece elevates my overall look, and turns it from simple to smart. Plus, it can be worn on Casual Fridays as well, boosting the wearability.

And for a taste of Instagram VS Reality, I opted to not only show outfit graphics, but also the pictures I was able to capture of these looks in the flesh. Oh the joys of motherhood with a toddler!
